Backflow Incense Burner – Bamboo & Pool

About this piece

Bamboo stems lean over a still pool in this ceramic backflow burner. Light a cone and the smoke spills through the design and gathers at the base in soft, drifting coils, like mist settling over water.

Bamboo is linked with resilience and calm in many traditions, and the pool brings a feeling of stillness. It works in a home, office, teahouse or yoga studio, and makes a lovely gift for a meditation lover or a friend who needs a calm moment on her desk.

Light the tip of a backflow cone, let the flame go out, and rest the cone in place. The smoke is heavier than air and flows down in soft swirls, a quiet pleasure for a desk, shelf or bedside table. Never leave burning incense unattended. Keep a small dish nearby for spent cones, and enjoy the slow rhythm of the smoke.
