Clusters & geodes

Crystal clusters and geodes make striking, sparkling centrepieces. Browse calcite geodes in natural and coloured finishes, white apophyllite, crafted quartz clusters, a carved calcite skull and small natural amethyst clusters for shelves, altars and gifts.

What is the difference between a cluster and a geode?

A cluster is a group of crystal points growing from a shared base, like a small crystal garden. A geode is a hollow rock lined with crystals inside, split open to reveal the sparkle. Both are natural, and each one is different.

How to choose a cluster or geode

Start with size. Our Calcite Geodes come in sizes from 3-4cm up to 15-18cm, so you can pick a pocket-sized piece or a statement centrepiece. The Coloured Calcite Geodes, in purple, turquoise, yellow, pink and gold on black or natural rock, are vivid and eye-catching. White Apophyllite Clusters are delicate and sparkling, and a Small Natural High Grade Amethyst Cluster, around 3-8cm, is a classic for a bedside table.

Check whether the colours are natural or enhanced, which is described on the product page. Coloured pieces are best kept out of strong sunlight, which can fade them.

How to display and care for clusters

Place clusters on a shelf, mantelpiece or altar where they will catch the light. Dust with a soft brush rather than washing them, as the points can be fragile. In tradition, amethyst is linked with calm and clear quartz with clarity, so choose with that in mind.

Pair a geode with a candle holder for a glowing display, or explore our points, towers and obelisks and crystal lamps.

Questions and answers

Are geodes hollow?

Yes, a geode is a hollow rock lined with crystals, usually split in half to show the interior. Calcite geodes are known for their sparkling centres, and can be natural or coloured.

Where should I put a crystal cluster?

Many people place them on a shelf, mantelpiece, desk or altar, where the light can catch the crystals. Keep them out of strong sunlight and damp, and handle them gently as points can chip.

Are the colours on coloured calcite geodes natural?

Coloured calcite geodes have been enhanced to achieve their vivid colours, while natural rock pieces show the stone as it was found. Product pages describe each, and bright colours may fade over time in strong sun.
