About this piece
A pocket-sized calcite geode, 3-4cm across, small enough to hold in a closed fist and still carrying a tiny crystal cave inside. It is a miniature of the larger geodes, and just as sparkling.
Geodes are hollow stones in which crystals have grown slowly over a very long time, so even a small one carries a little wonder. At about 80g, it makes an easy stocking filler, party favour or first gift for a young mineral collector.
Display it on a shelf, mantelpiece or windowsill where the light can catch the crystals inside. It looks neat on a desk, in a bowl or alongside other small stones. Dust it gently with a soft brush and keep it away from water.
