Myrrh Resin – 50g
About this piece
Chunky, reddish pieces of myrrh resin, which release a dark, earthy, faintly bitter smoke when they meet hot charcoal. The scent is deep and meditative, ancient in character and instantly recognisable.
Myrrh has been burned in temples and homes since ancient times, and is the companion to frankincense in many sacred traditions. It is an ideal gift for someone who likes historic, contemplative scents, or for pairing with a charcoal jar.
Light a charcoal disc with tongs and place it in a burner. When it turns grey at the edges, add a few small pieces of resin, perhaps over a layer of sand to absorb the heat. Keep it on a heat-resistant surface and never leave burning charcoal unattended.
