Setting up an altar
An altar can be as simple as a cloth on a windowsill. Many people start with an altar cloth to mark the space, a candle for fire, a small bowl for offerings or salt, and a chalice for water. A cauldron is useful for burning loose incense or herbs safely on a charcoal disc, and a bell is rung to open or close a ritual.
Choose pieces that feel meaningful to you. Triple moon, pentagram and tree of life designs are popular, and many tools can be layered over time as your practice grows. Keep a Book of Shadows nearby to note what you do and what you notice.
Questions and answers
What size cauldron should I choose?
Small cauldrons suit tea lights, offerings and a single charcoal disc on a small altar. Larger cauldrons are better for loose incense, herbs and burning written intentions. Each product page gives the size.
Can I burn incense in a cast iron cauldron?
Yes. Place a heatproof layer of sand or salt in the bottom, set it on a heatproof surface and never leave it unattended. The metal gets hot.
Are the ritual knives sharp?
No. Our selenite ritual knives are carved crystal tools used symbolically in ritual, not blades for cutting.
