Amber Resin – 50g

A tub of amber resin, in small glossy pieces the colour of dark honey. Burned on charcoal, it gives a smoky, mysterious fragrance that is warm, slightly sweet and unlike any stick incense.

Burning resin is among the oldest ways to scent a room, and amber has long been loved for its enveloping, evening-ready warmth. It makes a distinctive gift for the incense lover who already owns sticks and cones, or for a friend setting up a charcoal burner.

Light a charcoal disc with tongs and place it in a burner. When it turns grey at the edges, add a few small pieces of resin, perhaps over a layer of sand to absorb the heat. Keep it on a heat-resistant surface and never leave burning charcoal unattended.
