Animal Ocarina – Turtle
About this piece
Smooth, rounded and speckled green, this turtle ocarina has a detailed shell and a calm, ocean-inspired look. Blow across it and it makes soft, flute-like notes that are easy to learn and lovely to listen to.
The detailed turtle shape gives it strong decorative appeal, so it looks as good on a shelf as it sounds. The rounded form sits comfortably in the hands, and the finger holes let you experiment with notes and melodies. A cord is included. It appeals to both children and adults who enjoy music, nature and artisan-style craftsmanship.
Cover the finger holes with your fingertips and breathe gently across the mouthpiece. Slowly try different combinations and listen to how the notes change. It makes an easy introduction to simple wind instruments.
