About this piece
A wooden puzzle box shaped like a tortoise, with a domed shell and a small head poking forward.
Tortoises are symbols of patience, steadiness and long life, so this box is a lovely gift for someone who takes things slowly. The idea is the same as an Indian wooden puzzle: you have to work out which order to pull the pieces apart in, and in the middle is a small compartment for something special.
To open it, slide and pull the pieces in the right order. It takes some trial and error, which is half the fun. Tuck a small gift, ring or note in the hidden compartment at the centre, then reset the pieces.
