Carved Owl in Tree Trunk – 24x11x5cm
About this piece
A single owl peers out from a carved section of tree trunk, its round eyes and rough bark edges giving it the look of a woodland guardian caught mid-thought. The wood is warm and tactile, and no two faces are quite alike.
This tree stump carving shows the Man of the Wood face and is shaped from offcuts of Chinaberry (Jempinis) and Hibiscus trunks. In folklore the owl is the bird of wisdom and the night, which makes this a fitting gift for a bookworm, a student, or anyone who loves the quieter side of nature.
Perch it on a bookshelf, a desk or beside the fireplace, or tuck it among ferns and pine cones for a small woodland scene. A soft wipe with a dry cloth is all it needs to keep its natural look.
