About this piece
A carved wooden horse alive with colour, its intricate patterns picked out in gleaming gold and rich turquoise. At 25cm it is just the right size to bring a jewel-bright note to a shelf, a desk or a bedside table.
Handcrafted in Indonesia from albasia wood, each horse shows the care of skilled carving, with the gold and turquoise accents creating a beautiful contrast. The horse is an old symbol of freedom, strength and good fortune, so this makes a cheerful gift for a horse lover, a child's bedroom, or anyone born in the Chinese Year of the Horse.
Display it on a mantelpiece among candles and greenery, or group it on a bookcase with other treasures from your travels. It looks especially lovely near a window, where daylight catches the gold.
