Gong in Stand – Black, 50cm
About this piece
A statement piece: a 50cm black gong held in a tall, carved wooden stand topped with a 50cm dragon. When you strike it, the sound is deep and wide, filling a room and fading slowly.
Gongs are traditionally used in Bali and Java in temple ceremonies and are now found in yoga studios. This one is handmade in Bali and built on a grand scale, so it works as a centrepiece for a studio, a meditation room or a spacious home. It is a gift for someone who truly loves sound, such as a yoga teacher, a sound bath practitioner or a collector.
Position the stand on a firm, level floor with room around it, then strike the centre of the gong with the 12cm mallet using a slow, gentle swing. Let each note swell and fade fully before the next. Two people will find it easiest to move.
