Mango Wood Backflow Incense Burner – Hamsa, Large
About this piece
A large hamsa hand, decorated in warm mango wood, forms the front of this backflow burner. The grain of the wood shows through, and when a cone burns, the smoke slides down the design in a pale, drifting curtain.
The hamsa is a well-loved symbol of protection and good luck, and wood adds a natural, earthy warmth. At 500g, this is the largest of the wooden burners, a good gift for a friend who loves symbolic homeware or is moving into a new home.
Place a backflow cone on the burner's plate, light the tip, then let the flame die so the cone smoulders. Within moments the smoke begins to pour down in slow ribbons. Never leave burning incense unattended, and keep the burner on a heatproof surface. It looks especially lovely at dusk, with a lamp turned low and a favourite book beside you.
