Molten Glass Hanging Bowl on Wood

About this piece

Hand-blown glass is draped over a piece of Gamal root while it is still hot, and sets into a bowl that follows the wood's contours. The result is a glass bowl cradled in gnarled wood, as if the root had grown it.

Made by hand with traditional Balinese tools, each piece is shaped by the root it rests on, so no two are alike. It makes a distinctive gift for a plant lover, a collector of natural objects or a friend who likes their home to feel like a greenhouse.

Use it as a setting for crystals and stones, air plants or cut flowers. It can be fitted to a wall, so it works as a hanging display in a bright room or by a window.
