Pure Herbs Rope Incense – Cedar
About this piece
A twist of Himalayan cedar, rolled by hand in rice paper and braided into a small rope. Lit, it gives a warm, resinous, woody smoke that fills a room slowly and deeply, like walking into a mountain forest.
In Nepal this cedar incense is known as dhup, and in Newar homes it is burned almost daily, as well as in stupas and temples. It is a lovely gift for someone who loves woody scents, or a friend who enjoys traditions from the Himalayas.
Rest the tip of a rope in a marble or metal dish, or on a bed of ash, and light it until it glows. A rope can make plenty of smoke, so use sparingly in a small room. Never leave burning incense unattended.
