Runes are the old alphabet of the Germanic peoples, and later became a divination system; the exact origins are uncertain, but they are thought to have been used for around two thousand years. Clear quartz is traditionally known as the master stone, said to amplify intention and thought. The clear stones make a good first set for a beginner, and are easy to read.

Sit with a clear question and draw three stones in a row, or cast the lot onto a cloth and read those that land face up. Between readings, keep the stones in their pouch, and read the set alongside a rune guide until the symbols feel familiar.
