Star anise has been prized in China for centuries, and its beautiful eight-pointed pods have become a favourite in festive decorations, mulled wine and pomanders. In folk magic the star shape is linked with luck and psychic awareness. Its warm scent blends beautifully with orange, cinnamon and clove for a festive atmosphere.
