The medium Teak Pestle & Mortar is a beautiful everyday companion for the kitchen or altar, its smooth, golden-brown teak warm in the hand. A few turns of the pestle release the scent of fresh herbs and spices, filling the room with fragrance.
Teak, Tectona grandis, contains a natural oil that helps make the wood water resistant and protects it from decay, and Javanese teak is considered among the finest in the world. Each set is lovingly made in Balinese villages from carefully managed teak reserves, and with a little care it can last a lifetime. A beautiful gift for a cook, a herbalist or a kitchen witch.
Use it to grind herbs and spices for cooking, crush dried flowers and resins for incense, or blend herbs for spell jars and sachets. Wash by hand in warm water, dry thoroughly and rub with a little food-safe oil now and then to keep the wood looking rich.
