Backflow Incense Burner – Ancient Chinese Coin
About this piece
A ceramic backflow burner decorated with a symbolic Chinese coin motif, its circle and square outline clear against the glaze. As the cone burns, a stream of smoke pours through the centre.
Chinese coins, round with a square hole, are traditionally believed to attract prosperity and good fortune. It is a meaningful gift for a housewarming, a birthday or a friend starting a new business venture, and a handsome piece for an office desk.
Burn a backflow cone in the top dish, and let the smoke fall slowly through the design. Place it on a stable, heatproof surface, away from draughts, children and pets, and never leave burning incense unattended. It looks especially lovely at dusk, with a lamp turned low and a favourite book beside you.
