About this piece
Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity, is carved into the face of this soapstone disc, his round shape perfectly suited to the smooth stone. At 180g it has a satisfying heft and sits steadily wherever you put it.
In Hindu tradition Ganesha is revered as the remover of obstacles and the patron of new beginnings, which makes this holder a fitting gift for someone starting a new job, moving house or setting out on a fresh project. Soapstone has long been carved into devotional objects and is traditionally associated with spirituality.
Never leave burning incense unattended. When cool, wipe away the ash with a soft dry cloth.
