Backflow Incense Burner – Skull in Hand

About this piece

A skull rests in an open hand in this ceramic backflow burner, and the smoke pours over the bone in pale drifts. It is dramatic and gothic, with a darkly poetic feel.

Skulls have long been a reminder in art and folklore to value the present moment. It is an ideal gift for a gothic soul, an oddities collector or someone who likes their décor with a touch of drama.

Light a backflow cone, let it smoulder, and sit back as the smoke begins to flow. Keep it on a steady, heatproof surface, and never leave burning incense unattended. Extinguish the cone fully before leaving the room. Try it with sandalwood or lavender cones for a softer mood, or frankincense for something deeper.
