Basil essential oil has a crisp, green and slightly sweet herbal aroma, fresh and clarifying, like a handful of leaves torn in a warm kitchen. It is greenish-yellow in colour and brings a bright, focused feel to a room.
The oil is steam distilled from the leaves and flowering tops of Ocimum basilicum, sourced from India. Basil is sacred in India, where its leaves are used in prayer and temple ceremonies, and in aromatherapy it is often used to awaken the mind and encourage clear thinking. A useful oil for study and work blends.
Add a few drops to a diffuser or an oil burner with water while you study or work. Dilute before use on skin. Not recommended during pregnancy or for children under 16. Keep out of reach of children and avoid contact with eyes.
