Carved Tree Trunk Owl Family – 26x16x6cm
About this piece
An owl family carved from offcuts of tree trunk, the parent and little ones sitting shoulder to shoulder above a weathered, woodland face. The grain runs through every figure, so the piece looks as though it grew into shape rather than being made.
These tree stump carvings feature the folkloric Man of the Wood face and are fashioned from Chinaberry (Jempinis) and Hibiscus trunk offcuts. Owls have long been linked in British folklore with quiet wisdom and night-time watchfulness, and a family of them makes a sweet gift for new parents, a nature lover or anyone setting up a first home.
Stand it on a shelf, mantel or windowsill where the light catches the grain. It sits happily among houseplants, pinecones and a few crystals, and suits a woodland-inspired corner or a child's reading nook.
