About this piece
Castor oil is a very thick, honey-like oil with a pale yellow colour and almost no scent. Its rich texture makes it a classic in natural beauty routines, from hair and brow care to homemade balms.
Castor oil has been used since ancient times, and India remains its largest producer today. Ours is cold pressed from the seeds of the castor plant, sourced from India. It is a great carrier for essential oils and is often added to cosmetic recipes to help other ingredients spread and absorb. A useful staple for DIY skincare.
Use a little on its own, or blend it with a lighter carrier oil and a few drops of essential oil for massage. Patch test before first use. Store in a cool, dark place and use within one year.
