What are massage oils used for?
Massage oils are blended with a carrier oil so they glide easily over the skin, and scented with essential oils for pleasant aromas. Many people use them for a self-care evening, a relaxing massage with a partner, or to add a few capfuls to a warm bath.
How to choose a massage oil
Think about the mood you want. Sleepy Lavender and Relaxing are traditional favourites for winding down in the evening. Peppermint Fresh feels bright and invigorating, while Nag Champa and Spicy Rub bring a warm, incense-like depth. The Sensual blend is popular for romantic evenings and gifts, and the Radiant Skin blend is a pretty present for anyone who enjoys a pamper.
The 100ml bottles are handy for a first try or a gift, and the 300ml aromatherapy bath and massage oils offer better value if you use them often.
How to use massage and bath oil
- Warm a little oil between your palms before applying.
- For a bath, add a small amount to running water, then step in carefully as oils can make the tub slippery.
- Patch test on a small area of skin first, particularly if you have sensitive skin.
Pair your oil with bath bombs or a salt soak, light a scented candle, and turn the lights down. Our calm and sleep collection gathers more ideas for quiet evenings.
Questions and answers
What is the difference between a massage oil and a bath oil?
Many oils work for both. Massage oils are designed to be rubbed into the skin, while bath oils are added to running water. Our 300ml aromatherapy blends are made for both uses. Check the label on each product for its recommended use.
Can I use massage oil on my face?
Most body massage oils are not made for the face. Our face products are in the skincare range. If a label does not say it is suitable for the face, keep the oil to your body and avoid the eye area.
Will massage oil stain my sheets or towels?
It can, as any oil may mark fabric. Use an old towel or sheet, and wash it promptly afterwards. In the bath, rinse the tub afterwards and take care stepping out as the surface can be slippery.
