About this piece
A long, slim banner in deep midnight tones, with chakra bands glowing from within the dyed cloth like lights in a night sky.
The seven chakras are the energy centres of yoga tradition, and the banner follows them in colour. Made using the batik method, the design is first drawn in hot wax directly on the fabric, then coloured with natural dyes. After the wax is washed out and the fabric sun dried, the colours come alive. It makes a calm gift for a yoga teacher, a night owl or a meditation room.
Hang it on a wall, over a door or down a narrow stretch where a long drop looks best, or from a pole in a window. Keep it out of damp, and gently shake out dust now and then.
