About this piece
A calcite geode in sunny yellow, in a black rock shell. The bright crystals inside stand out against the dark outside like a small hoard of gold.
Geodes are hollow stones in which crystals have formed over a long time, which makes each one unique. The yellow colour is artificial, applied to the geode and the crystals, so it is a decorative piece rather than a natural-colour specimen. A cheerful gift for a bright desk or sunny windowsill.
Display it open on a shelf, desk or windowsill where the light can reach the crystals. Dust gently with a soft brush and keep it dry, as the colour is applied and could be affected by water.
