About this piece
A brass double gourd topped by a dragon head, hanging from a cord. The two rounded forms stack neatly, and the dragon adds a fierce touch to a gentle shape.
The double gourd, or Wu Lou, is a well-known symbol of vitality and long life in Chinese tradition, and the double-gourd form represents balance and continuity. In Feng Shui it is associated with protection from negative influences. It makes a kind gift for a birthday, a retirement or a new home.
Hang it by a bedroom door, over a window or on a hall wall. Many people place one in the home of an older relative as a wish for a long life.
