Natural Bamboo Wind Chime – 4 Large Tubes
About this piece
Four long bamboo tubes hang from a natural-finish frame, each a full 50cm, and they knock together with a deep, hollow, wooden note that carries a long way across a garden. It is the larger, more resonant cousin of the smaller bamboo chimes, with a presence you hear before you notice it.
Handcrafted in Indonesia from sustainable bamboo, these chimes have been made for the simple pleasure of listening to the wind. Wind chimes have long been hung by doors and in gardens to bring a sense of calm to a space, and the bamboo voice is softer and earthier than metal. They make a lovely housewarming gift for a keen gardener, a new home or anyone who likes to sit outside with a cup of tea.
Hang them from a branch, porch beam or pergola where the breeze can reach them, or indoors near an open window. At 120cm tall, they need a little clear space beneath so the tubes can swing freely. Bring them under cover in the harshest weather to keep the bamboo looking its best.
