Parasite Wood Carving – Green Man
About this piece
The classic Greenman face carved directly into natural wood, on an upright branch form that gives it height and presence. The detailed facial carving adds character without feeling overworked.
The Greenman is a figure of British folklore, a face peering out from leaves, linked with spring, woodland and renewal, which makes this a fitting gift for a nature lover or someone drawn to folk tradition. Each piece is cut from naturally formed parasite wood, so grain, colour and shape vary.
Place it on a mantelpiece, altar or shelf, perhaps with some seasonal leaves beside it. Dust gently with a dry cloth. His leafy gaze suits a hearth at the turn of the seasons, and he looks wonderful with acorns, ivy or candles in the evening, a quiet nod to the wild green of the British hedgerow. Because the base is a natural piece of wood, it stands on any flat surface.
