Smudge Stick – Ruda (Rue) Sage, 10cm

About this piece

A 10cm sage bundle with ruda, the Spanish name for rue, an herb valued in folk tradition as protective. Green and earthy.

Rue was hung over doorways and carried as a charm in many folk traditions. Burning dried herbs to mark a change of season, a new home or a quiet moment is an old practice found around the world. A good present for anyone who loves ritual, from sage newcomers to seasoned practitioners.

Use it near thresholds, windows and the front door. Hold the end to a flame until it catches, blow it out and let the smoke curl upwards. Use a fireproof shell or dish, and press the tip out firmly afterwards. Never leave a smouldering bundle unattended.
