Incense cones

Incense cones, including Biofresh backflow cones in scents such as lavender, sandalwood, French vanilla and arabian jasmine. A tidy, easy way to fill a room with fragrance or to use in a backflow burner for a drifting waterfall of smoke.

What are incense cones?

Incense cones are small, solid cones of fragrant paste that you light at the tip and rest on a heatproof dish. They burn steadily and give off a stronger fragrance than many sticks, and they leave a little ash. They are an easy choice for anyone who wants incense without fuss.

What are backflow cones?

Backflow cones are made to produce denser smoke that sinks and trickles down through a special burner, creating a waterfall effect. Our Biofresh Backflow Incense Cones are intended for this purpose. Scents include Amber Safron, Arabian Jasmine, Frank & Myrrh, French Vanilla, Lavender and Sandalwood.

To see them at their best, choose one of our backflow burners with a deep channel.

How to choose a scent

Sandalwood and Frank & Myrrh are traditional and woody, and suit meditation or an evening wind-down. Lavender is soft and herbal, French Vanilla is warm and sweet, and Arabian Jasmine is floral and rich. Try a couple of scents to find your favourite, and keep cones in a dry place.

Light the tip, let it flame for a few seconds, then blow it out so it smoulders. Always place cones in a heatproof holder and never leave them unattended. For more choice, browse our incense holders and burners and the wider incense and smudge range.

Questions and answers

Can I use backflow cones in a normal burner?

You can, but they are designed for backflow burners, which have a hollow channel. In an ordinary dish they burn like regular cones but produce no waterfall effect. Always use a heatproof dish and keep the cone away from flammable items.

How long does an incense cone burn?

Most cones burn for around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on their size and composition. Burn time also varies with airflow in the room. Always stay in the room, and let the cone finish or extinguish it safely.

How do I light an incense cone?

Place the cone upright in a heatproof dish, light the tip with a match or lighter, and let it burn for a few seconds. Then blow out the flame, and the cone will smoulder and release fragrance.

Which scent is best for relaxing evenings?

Soft, warm scents such as lavender, sandalwood and French Vanilla are popular for quieter evenings. Many people also like frankincense and myrrh. The best choice is the one you enjoy, as scent is very personal.
