About this piece
A large felted gong stick, 23cm long, with a soft, rounded head. Its job is simple and lovely: to coax a deep, velvety voice from a gong without any harsh attack.
A felted beater gives a gentler, warmer sound than a hard mallet, so the gong swells slowly instead of clanging. It is useful as a spare for a gong you already own, or as a thoughtful gift for a sound bath host or a yoga teacher. At 23cm it is comfortable to hold and swing.
Hold the stick near the end and strike the centre of the gong with a relaxed swing. For a rolling effect, circle the felted head lightly around the centre and build slowly. Wait for the sound to fade fully between strikes.
