Teas & infusions
Loose leaf teas and infusions to savour slowly. Find 50g packs of ceremonial and culinary matcha, red bush, chai, cinnamon black tea, green tea with lemon and ginger, and the On Angels Wings blend, all ready to brew.
Which tea should you choose?
The best tea depends on the time of day. Black teas such as Narnaja, Chai and Cinnamon are bold and warming for mornings. Green tea with lemon and ginger is light and fresh. Matcha, a finely ground green tea, is whisked into a vivid, creamy drink, and comes in both ceremonial and culinary grades.
For evenings, many people turn to rooibos, also called red bush. It is naturally caffeine free and has a gentle, slightly sweet flavour. Try Red Bush Relax or the Rooibos Eco blend, and look out for the On Angels Wings tea blend for slow afternoons.
How to brew loose leaf tea
- Use about one teaspoon of leaves per cup.
- Black and herbal teas like water just off the boil; green tea and matcha prefer it cooler.
- Steep for three to five minutes, then strain.
- Leave the leaves in a little longer if you like a stronger cup, but green tea can turn bitter.

Questions and answers
What is matcha and how do I prepare it?
Matcha is a finely ground green tea powder. Sift about half a teaspoon into a bowl, add a little hot (not boiling) water, and whisk briskly until frothy. Ceremonial grade is for drinking neat, while culinary grade is better in lattes and baking.
Does rooibos contain caffeine?
Rooibos, or red bush, is naturally caffeine free, so it is a popular choice for the evening or late afternoon. Always read the label, as flavoured blends may contain other ingredients.
How should I store loose leaf tea?
Keep it in an airtight container in a cool, dark cupboard away from strong smells and moisture. Stored well, tea keeps its flavour much longer. A carved tea box or a simple tin is ideal for keeping it fresh.
