Wax melts

Wax melts in soft, lasting fragrances, from fruity and floral to herbal and spiced. Choose boxes of eight in scents like White Fig and Tea + Roses, or aroma blends such as Lavender & Rosemary, for your wax melt burner.

How do wax melts work?

Wax melts are small, pre-scented pieces of wax that you warm in a burner. Heat from an electric element or a tealight softens the wax and releases its fragrance into the room, with no wick to trim. It is an easy way to scent a space, and you can change the fragrance whenever you like.

How to choose wax melts

Think about the room first. Fresh scents such as Fresh Citrus or Clementine feel bright in kitchens and hallways, while softer blends like Pressed Peonies, Tea + Roses and White Fig are lovely in a bedroom or lounge.

Our Agnes + Cat boxes of eight let you try a single scent generously. The Aroma Wax Melts, with pairings like Ginger & Clove, Lavender & Rosemary and Ylang Ylang & Orange, lean towards herbal and spiced notes if you prefer something more traditional.

Burners and alternatives

You will need a burner to use wax melts. If you like to scent your home with oils instead, our oil burners are designed for a tealight, and many people use them with wax too. Prefer a flame and a wick? Explore our scented candles.

Wax melts also make an easy, affordable gift, especially when you pair two or three complementary scents together. For a gift with a little more intention, see our gift finder.

Questions and answers

Do I need a special burner for wax melts?

Yes, you will need a wax melt burner, which is usually an electric warmer or a ceramic dish that holds a tealight beneath. Place a few pieces of wax in the dish and let the gentle heat release the scent.

How long do wax melts last?

It depends on the scent strength, the size of the room and how long the burner is on. A few pieces will typically scent a room for several hours. When the fragrance fades, tip out the old wax and add fresh pieces.

How do I remove old wax from my burner?

Wait until the wax has cooled and set, then pop it out with a cotton bud or small spoon. Alternatively, warm the burner so the wax softens, then blot it with a paper towel. Always let the burner cool before cleaning.

Are wax melts safe to use around pets?

Strong fragrance can bother some animals, so keep the burner out of reach, use it in a well-ventilated room and let pets leave if they wish. If you are unsure, ask your vet about scents around your particular pet.
